The day will be dedicated to the wildest and most exuberant part of the island: a journey beneath the volcano!

We’ll follow the coast to make a quick stop at a fascinating natural curiosity, shaped by ancient volcanic activity: the Souffleur.

We’ll then head south for a first photo stop at the only white sand beach in the south: Grand’Anse.

Next, a break for a swim or a walk at the charming and wild site of Manapany, where a natural rock pool offers a safe and refreshing swim by the ocean.

We will stop at Cap Méchant, where basalt cliffs meet the ocean, surrounded by ancient lava flows over 1,000 years old and crashing waves.

Then we’ll get our picnic at the Puits Arabe, where a lava flood enlarged the island in 1986…

After lunch, we’ll get even closer to this volcanic landscape by visiting one of the most recent lava flows to reach the sea in 2007.

On our way back, we’ll stop at the Jardin des Parfums et des Épices, a unique botanical garden where flowers, fruit trees, and spices grow in harmony on lava flows that are over 800 years old.

Expected return around 5:00 p.m.

8:00 a.m. – Departure from Saint-Gilles
8:20 a.m. – Stop at the Souffleur in St Leu (Photo stop – 10 min)
9:30 a.m. – Photo stop at Grand Anse (15 min)
10:00–11:00 a.m. – Stop at Manapany: walk or swim
11:30 a.m.–1:00 p.m. – Picnic and visit of Cap Méchant
1:30 p.m. – 2007 lava flow (Photo stop – 15 min)
2:15–3:15 p.m. – Jardin des Parfums et des Épices
Return to the hotel around 5:00 p.m.
